Walking the long way

grief heavy in each step

not knowing the Divine was there.

With stirring heart

like a little seed

when spring is near.

O Christ of quiet roads,

teach me to find You

in the places I do not yet know—

Instill in me soft hush before

my own understanding,

Help me be that kind of soul!

The one who feels the burning

before the knowing.

Artist’s Note

The story of the Road to Emmaus has been resting in me lately. Two disciples walking with the risen Christ—and they don’t recognize Him.

It’s SO human.

I think of the times I’ve felt disconnected, uncertain, even abandoned… only to look back and realize I wasn’t alone. Something sacred was with me, even in the silence.

It’s that reminder for me that God doesn’t wait for us to recognize Him—He just walks with us anyway.
